Postby seanjohnson » Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:19 am

Is there any way to update the frequency that my hda updates the ip address for my yourhda.com address?

Thanks in Advance

Hi, not at the moment. We're considering adding it as a feature.

Is this something that interests you?

We're wondering how much interest there is (and perhaps the reasons - in case we can help on that too), so if you can elaborate a bit, it would be useful.

I am running a trixbox ip pbx and using my yourhda.com address for the SIP trunk to connect to it, when the ip address changes I lose incoming audio, the only way round this is to reboot my hda, could I write a script to restart the dyn dns updater so that it re-registers on a more frequent basis?

does your router provide a dynamic DNS function?

if so you can use a no-ip.com domain address and set the timing to as often as you like.
But.....

you will still loose audio for the time it takes for the next update to happen which at max is the time you set.

Yeah, this is hard to get completely uninterrupted audio.

Changing the client will not help much, as we protect our servers from overload.

We would like to offer this in our planned/upcoming PRO plans. So, please help us implement this nicely (email support if you would like to help with this).

Now, how about a howto for trixbox on Amahi!?!? (or even better, package it for one-click install!)

You'd be a hero!! So many people want this!
