DLNA woes

Postby stueyboy » Thu Aug 26, 2010 1:12 pm

Having trouble with DLNA server after a rebuild. I've tried several times to de-install and re0install DLNA and the RPM packages but to no avail. Following help on this thread ( http://forums.amahi.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1204 ) shows that the server is installed but there is no /var/cache/minidlna folder and I can't manually start the service either. There is a minidlna folder in /tmp but no content.

I'm not sure what to try next so any help would be great.

Ta

edit: It appears that the files.db is building in the /tmp/minidlna folder but still no cache/minidlna folder

there should not be anything in /var/cache/minidlna. not sure where that comes from.

I can't manually start the service either

did you install the prerequisite RPM fusion (both free & non-free) before installing DLNA?

OK thanks for the replies. I will get on to this when I get in front of the server later. There have been posts before about what is in the cache folders. (http://forums.amahi.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1204 second post in). I have made sure the RPM packages are installed and when I type in the following;

rpm -q amahi-dlna

I do get a reply saying it is installed. My reason for posting and why I can't really enter any more information is that in the HDA web screen under servers, the DLNA service is stopped and no amount of clicking on start will make it happen.

What sort of info is going to help diagnose the situation and I will gladly supply it. It is a strange problem as everythign was functioning fine on exactly the same hardware previously. Has there been an update recently which might have changed some parameters?

I should also note that entering service amahi-dlna restart as root goes through the motions of stopping and starting the service but does not change the status on the webpage.

I get this when I enter the command
rpmfusion-nonfree-release-10-5.noarch
rpmfusion-free-release-12-2.noarch
At this moment, the server seems to be working correctly but it is still red light and stopped in the dashboard page so I expect it is functioning correctly.

hmm you can check if the process is running:

Code: Select all

ps -ef | grep dln[a]
echo '16i[q]sa[ln0=aln100%Pln100/snlbx]sbA0D2173656C7572206968616D41snlbxq' | dc

have you changed anything regarding the music/pictures/movies folders (like removed them or renamed them in your own language?) I think Amahi will setup only the defaults...
