How to create an upload with transmission...

Postby plodkiller » Sun Jul 11, 2010 12:45 pm

Is there anyway to actually create a new torrent and seed it with transmission.....I have looked carefully but the solution is probably staring me in the face and I don't see it....

thanks for the info but I should have been more specific.. I need to know how to create a torrent I can seed from my hda. If I create it on another computer don't I need to have that computer on 24/7 so it can seed. I was hoping to do just do it through my hda. Transmission for downloads works great and I am very pleased with it.

Actually, there's an extra step involved, unfortunately, if you want to seed from your Amahi server. You'll need to create the torrent on another one, add the torrent to the HDA and download it, and then you may seed. You can always take the lack of torrent creation via the web interface up with the Transmission project.

Quick note to point out that you don't really need to let your Amahi server 'download' your torrent before it can seed.
Once you added the torrent in your Amahi Transmission, and the transfer started, pause it, and manually overwrite the files on your HDA (/var/hda/files/torrents/something) with the original files.
Restart Transmission (use the Settings > Servers tab in your Amahi dashboard) and Transmission will scan the local file before trying to download more, and it will find that it has all of it, at which point it will start seeding.
