Amahi 5.4 Express - no keyboard

I am trying to install 5.4 Express on an older system. The initial installation screen comes up with the Express and Advanced install options but there is no response from any keypress on the keyboard.
I have tried 2 keyboards (both of which I know to work) and have the same problem.
The keyboards are both USB and I am able to get into the bios and make changes which each of them.
Perhaps this is a bug in the installer? Any suggestions on how I can get the install to start would be appreciated.

you may have to enable "Legacy USB" in the BIOS.

this business of usb keyboards on old systems is a pain.

try borrowing and using a ps/2 keyboard too.
