I'm new to Amahi. I had been looking for an easy-to-set-up home server for a while and was pleased to find how easy it was to set up and run.
My problem seems strange and I'm not sure what logs to go look at for guidance, so I'm throwing it out here in hope that someone will be able to point me in the right direction.
As stated, my server is up and running on an older Gateway with no problems. However, when I sit down at the console - for instance, to browse through the available apps or just look at how Fedora is set up - I get to a point where the screen will freeze, the mouse will still move, but the keyboard stops responding completely (not even a Caps Lock light). To resolve the problem, the best I've found is to SSH in from another machine and do a "shutdown -r now" to reboot.
Where can I look for the cause of the issue? I've had Ubuntu on this same hardware previously and had no lockups, so am not expecting this to be a Gnome issue (but I could be wrong). I also wonder if it's a video driver issue and have already un-installed Compiz (with "yum erase compiz") thinking that may have been the culprit.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Fedora Desktop Locking up
Re: Fedora Desktop Locking up
It sounds very much like a driver issue to me. Could you post your system specifications and attach a link to your Xorg log (located in /var/log/) pasted to http://paste.amahi.org?
I've had similar issues with graphics drivers in the past that seem quite similar to yours.

Re: Fedora Desktop Locking up
Hey, it's been forever since I've had time to work on this, but I've uploaded system information in the form of dmesg output at http://paste.amahi.org/f56ffd5f4 and the Xorg.log file at http://paste.amahi.org/f4ec15718.
Thanks again for your help!

nothing stands out. the
from before a hang may help.
if you can ssh, it's probably the case that it's X related. maybe the graphics card driver.
it did say it had trouble with Xv (video acceleration) in the warnings.
