Amahi Controll panel

Postby stejorge » Sun Mar 21, 2010 11:06 am

I'm a real n00b so please be gentle :?

1. Can I use SSH from the control panel or do i need this app on the client machine?
2. Can I use RDP from the control panel or.... (similar to say LogMeIn?)
3. I installed it with a key from a test server on a VM machine, but I have some issues with accessing it from the client, should I reinstall with a new key?
4. If I have to reinstall, can I just run the set up again or do I need to remove anything or should i go from scratch with a new F12 install?
5. I have several HDD with data, and want to add these after I have set up the Amahi server, is it any way of doing this with GUI instead of CLI? Could this also be done via the control panel?
6. The router control with DD-WRT, is it stable, I use Tomato firmware on a WRT54G router, but will switch to DD-WRT if this is stable and user friendly

you use ssh into your HDA, from a client. no control panel involved.
2. Can I use RDP from the control panel or.... (similar to say LogMeIn?)
the supported way is the included VPN.
3. I installed it with a key from a test server on a VM machine, but I have some issues with accessing it from the client, should I reinstall with a new key?
what does "issues" really mean? you can use the same install key on the same machine, or you can delete the profile and set another one (new key). with the little info you provided we cannot really help you much more. same applies for question 4.
5. I have several HDD with data, and want to add these after I have set up the Amahi server, is it any way of doing this with GUI instead of CLI? Could this also be done via the control panel?
no gui at the moment, the only support we provide is a wiki page on adding more hard drives.

for 6, don't change your router for amahi.

OK, I'v got it up and running ....sort of. I did a complete reinstal and after some fiddeling around I got the installer to work, witch was not an issue the first time....
The problem is that I can't access it from any client machine by the way of http://hda
I can however use the IP address and get in to the control panel.
But still when I am in the CP I cant open any apps.. "Oops! This link appears to be broken"

My client machine is running Linux Mint

looks like your client may not be using your HDA for DNS.

check the network troubleshooting page.
