Hi & congratulations on an excellent product.
I'm still experimenting with Amahi with the intention of using it as a home server but primarily because of the convenience of installing apps. The one thing I can’t get my head around is how to make an installed application available over the Internet.
I understand the risks, so I’m mitigating them by
- Reconfiguring my router to only accept incoming connections from known IP ranges
- Not keeping anything precious on the server
- Leaving the server off unless I intend to use it
- Only using apps that are designed to be Web-facing, so hopefully fairly robust
I understand that the supported method of remote connection is through the VPN, but this is out of the question in my workplace.
The main applications I’d like to make Web-facing are: Family Connections, Gallery 2 & Joomla. Preferably as sub-directories of my HDA domain, i.e. “myaccount.yourhda.com/fcms”
I’ve successfully installed Family Connections outside of Amahi and got that working over the Web but cannot figure out how to do this in Amahi. My Apache knowledge is limited and the directory structure of Apache seems different to that of a direct install. (?)
So, is it possible to open an Amahi installed Web-app to the Internet, and if so how?
Many thanks, Gary.

it's a bit clunky, however, we hope to enhance this in the next release.

Re: Web-facing apps
I'd read that about four times before your reply and never put two and two together, thank you.
I've now got FCMS as a Web-facing app & using SSL too, I've even figured out that I can still use the HDA admin pages by adjusting my hosts file in the office.
Thanks again, and may the Force be with you also.
