Media streaming slows to halt

Just recently upgraded to F12 and Amahi 5.1
Through carelessness I lost my 100+ movie collection
At any rate I began rebuilding my collection (rippin DVD to HDA share).
When I access the file the movie stops. It is the same w/ mp3 music files.
I can upload files to server no problem but downloading files cause a timed out error.
I thought I might be a networking hardware problem but I can stream media between computers. The problem is exclusive to the server it seems.
Server specs:
INTEL Pentium 4
2.4 GHz
1.00 GB Ram
160 GB IDE
1.5 TB SATA

From our conversation in the forum, it looks like some suboptimal networking.

If even transferring a file inside your hda when connecting with samba, it may be your network driver or something.

I myself had a bad connection on a cable in my network and had problems sending an HD stream, which kept on stuttering.

Your case if a timeout, which is different.
