total newbie here...

Postby all1word » Thu Apr 07, 2016 10:55 am

the only thing I know is that I don't know much.

I have a mac mini running with an hp ex495 homeserver connected to it (where I have all my media files). HP has given up on the home server and now it won't Time Machine my macs with the new mac os. so the ex495 is pretty much just a big hard drive to hold all my files. I'm wondering if i can run amahi on the mac mini (actually I don't think it will work on macs, so instead a cheap pc) and still use all the files that are on the ex495? That's what I'm most interested in -- making sure I can access all my media I have on the hp home server.

Thank you

No only on a PC that meets the minimum hardware requirements.

Yes you could potentially link the hp ex495 homeserver to an Amahi server or possibly move the files to a server with Amahi running on it.
