Sorry if this question is a duplicate. I did a quick search and didn't find anything in the forum.
I transferred files to my HDA through shared folders (books, movies, pictures, etc.) on the network via windows explorer. When accessing my HDA dashboard from a browser, no files appear under shares/pictures; I've logged in as a regular user and admin, and the shares are accessible by anyone.
When accessing the HDA via command line, I can see everything I transferred by listing /var/hda/files/pictures.
There are no directories or files listed under /var/hda/shares.
How do I make the files visible in the dashboard? Do I: mv /var/hda/files/pictures /var/hda/shares?
Or, did I use the incorrect method of transferring files to the HDA, and that's why they're under /var/hda/files/pictures and not /shares?
Also, the files weren't visible from the dashboard when I utilized the HDA as a DHCP and DNS server. I've disabled those features, still no pictures on the dashboard. My ubuntu machine can see the pictures when accessing the server through the network, but not the dashboard.
Thanks for any advice. I'm a newb.

Files are not visible from the Dashboard. How do I make the files visible in the dashboard?
You have to use the client's file manager or install a web application that provides the functionality, such as Pydio. There are also Photo applications in the Amahi App Store that might meet your needs.
BTW, the Amahi Wiki is our repository of how to's and guidance for using the Amahi server. Recommend you take a look there as well.
