RESOLVED: SSH key-based login

Postby baileyt2 » Tue Dec 01, 2015 9:00 pm

I'm able to use Putty to ssh, but I followed the wiki instructions to create a public and private key. However, now when I login with Putty, I get a message that says "Server refused our key". I'm still able to login with my password, but obviously the keys aren't working right. Suggestions? (and who is our, and we, anyway?).

Can you please provide the URL for the following:

Code: Select all

fpaste --says info
Sounds like the public key was not correctly added to the HDA or you are not using the correct private key.

Did you double check your steps from the wiki guidance.

I'm still having this problem with Putty SSH using public/private key. I've have followed the wiki directions and get the same results.

Using username "baileyt2".

Did you use the Dashboard UI to add the Public key to your user?

If so, you might try doing it command line. I am sure it's a simple fix, just have to determine what is wrong. I had this issue once, and redoing it fixed my issue.

BTW, you can use the shell-in-a-box App and login with user name and password from a client web browser.

"Did you use the Dashboard UI to add the Public key to your user?"

Yes.

"If so, you might try doing it command line. I am sure it's a simple fix, just have to determine what is wrong. I had this issue once, and redoing it fixed my issue."

How do I do it from the command line?

"BTW, you can use the shell-in-a-box App and login with user name and password from a client web browser."

When I follow the link, I don't see a way to install this app, and I don't find it when I search the Apps.

Sorry for being so lame at this.

Follow the same wiki guidance, but do Option 2.
When I follow the link, I don't see a way to install this app, and I don't find it when I search the Apps.
It may have a convenience fee in which case you need to log into amahi.org and purchase it. See the Amahi FAQ for details.

A search may not find it in your HDA, so may need to scroll through the apps if it is free.

I tried Option 2, with the same results.

I installed the Shell-in-the-box app. Firefox gives me a security warning and won't connect.

You must not be doing something right. Did you double check your steps in the wiki?

BTW the Firefox security warning is no big deal. Google how to navigate around it.

Might try a different browser too.

Maybe this is an issue.

Following the Wiki directions, when I try to connect to "your" server at 192.168.1.67, it doesn't work. The network times out. In order to get to "my" server, I have to use 192.168.0.10. That's the IP I used to create the profiles.

If that is the IP address of your server then yes. The address in the wiki is just an example.

The address you created for the HDA profile on amahi.org is the one assigned to you HDA.

If it's working then we can close this thread, correct?
