How do I access apps from a separate IP pool? I have a feeling it involves editing the apache confs for the individual apps, but I'm not sure how. I tried http://IP_of_HDA/tcexam but that redirects to the HDA start page.
The situation is that I am putting one HDA on a network that has several IP pools, but I can't access the Apps on that server unless I am on the same IP pool that is handled by the HDA. Is it possible? I know I can change my DNS to point to the HDA and then access it using, say, http://tcexam, but the goal is to use several of them for different pools and I want to be able to access their apps and changing my DNS every time is tedious.
Accessing Apps using IP address
Re: Accessing Apps using IP address
how large is this network?
amahi uses the virtualhost feature of apache, which is dns based at the core.
for a couple of apps, you could edit the main apache config file to redirect to multiple root directories, however, that does not strike me as scalable.
that said, if you find a good solution, please send us a patch (or make a guide in the wiki), because there have been a few inquiries about this feature.

Re: Accessing Apps using IP address
Lets see. Its a private network with 17 different campuses. We use the private IP range of 10.228.* where one campus will use 10.228.10.1 to 10.228.19.254, the next campus 10.228.20.1 to 10.228.29.254, etc. I'm going to mess with it and see what I can make happen.
Re: Accessing Apps using IP address
There are many ways to access the applications using IP address one of easy way to find out your IP is through ip-details find out and access your app through it...
Re: Accessing Apps using IP address
Sounds like you need to add a line to your routing table in the routers/switches that aren't on the same net to forward traffic to the IP range where Amahi is located.
If you've got another server running already (sayyyy Windows) and you can access that server without issues you can look at the routing tables on how to resolve your "segmented network" issue.
You can also do a "reverse" test: can you reach the clients in different subnets from your hda?
