SOLVED: Owncloud8 linking to spam page?

Postby Marno » Thu Oct 01, 2015 12:53 pm

Hi,
After (one click) installing owncloud8 and going to the provided link (http://owncloud8.home.com) I there get the request to update to version 8.1.3. Logging in is not possible.

So updating and rebooting...

The same link now shows a page with advertisements. No logging in possible. Not able to find the login screen to owncloud8 :-(

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks already.

Please provide results for the following command (URL ONLY; do not paste the text):

Code: Select all

fpaste --sysinfo
Did you turn off your router's DHCP server?

Recommend you check out the network troubleshooting page.

Thanks for the fast response. Pls find the info @ http://paste.fedoraproject.org/273938/44376809/

Indeed I did not turn off DHCP on my (tele2 glassfiber) modem because it is not possible. Everything is blocked. It does have two pools set (below).
STB_pool 192.168.200.2 - 192.168.200.254 192.168.200.1
LAN_private 192.168.1.64 - 192.168.1.253 192.168.1.1

The server is currently on 192.168.1.10. Should I move it to either pool?
It seems solving this DHCP issue would be the first thing to do. I will try to learn a bit about this on the page you mentioned. If you have additional thoughts pls let me know. It is much appreciated.

Thanks.

pointed the DNS on the client to the amahi server and voila, the url now displays the login screen.
From outside of the home network ('user'.yourhda.com), then clicking the owncloud icon on the dashboard, still I get the spam URL.
Also user'.yourhda.com/owncloud does not work, but I think I just need to tinker a bit more. Input still appreciated though however! :-)
Thanks.

That is normal behavior. Check out the wiki for how to expose apps outside your network.

I really feel like I am in the correct place here (newbe  )

- Finished the Amahi network troubelshooter with success.
- Finished this guide for a single webapp (in my case: owncloud): http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Hosting ... e%20Webapp

still: when I access "user.yourhda.com", and am then pointed to "owncloud8.home.com/index.php/settings/admin?trustDomain="user".yourhda.com" I get the spam page, not the login. On the internal network it works fine.

Can this again be related to the DNS server? I would expect the DNS of the HDA to be used (http is forwarded to the HDA) but maybe instead the DNS on the router is still used (I cannot turn off DHCP or DNS on the router). Could this be correct and is there a way to fix this?

Thanks a lot already.

You need to test this from outside your network.

Also if you have any firewall in your network, it could prohibit access. I presume you forwarded port 80 from your HDA, correct?

I tested using 4g.
In the router I pointed port 80 to the hda.
When going to "user".yourhda.com on 4g, it then directs me to the owncloud8 login screen where I get a message about not being a trusted site (URL then still is "user".yourhda.com). It provides the option to add "user".yourhda.com as a trusted site. Clicking it then directs through to owncloud8.home.com/... But the spam version of it :-(

Not sure about that firewall . Don't think the router has one, so it would need to be in the stnd install of Amahi...

The address for accessing ownCloud outside the network may need to be configured while accessing it internally. I don't use it myself, so can't be much help with regards to how it works.

Have you seen the ownCloud guidance in the wiki? It is very robust and the person who contributed this documentation updates it regularly. There may be some help there.
