You can do it in the dashboard. The command will work as well.

Remember you may need to reboot the HDA and/or your network.

I couldn't get it to work last night and had to give up and go to bed...

I believe your advice is to change the ip address for the HDA from 192.168.1.197 to something where the 4th number is less than 100, and that I should be able to that on the dashboard? So, I look on the dashboard for the ip address 192.168.1.197 where it can be changed. But I don't find anywhere to do that. Under the network, settings tab the ip address for the router (192.168.1.1) is there labeled Gateway, and I can change the 4th number of that but don't see how that would help. For good measure I went ahead and changed it anyway, and the network quit working altogether so I changed it back.

Is there somewhere else on the dashboard you are referring to that I am missing?

Thanks.

Sorry, my mistake. You can change the router IP address but not the 3rd digit via the dashboard.

The only way to change the 3rd digit is via the script.

The IP address to the HDA itself cannot be easily changed without reinstalling.

When you set up your HDA profile on amahi.org, What static IP address should I choose for my HDA indicated you should have chosen < 100. You may not have remembered seeing this, but it's shown on the screen where you chose the HDA IP Address.

Again, sorry for the confusion. I am afraid you are stuck with the current IP address for the HDA unless you start over.

No worries. I really do appreciate you trying to help me... it's a tall order.

One last thing and then I'll go reinstall and quit harassing you. I don't see anyway at amahi.org (where I find my install code) to change the IP address either, which I assume would need to match what I make the HDA when I reinstall. So, do I have to create a new profile? ANd if I do, will I have to buy the Plex app again?

Thanks again.

No problem. Happy to help.

The HDA profile cannot be changed. You will have to remove it and create a new one.

So, reinstalled and set IP for HDA as recommended. Dashboard links for apps still get DNS error. I've searched every board I can thik of for my computer, router, etc trying to figure it out and gotten nothing.

So, as previously noted I can access Plex with this alternate method in my web browser:

http://192.168.1.7:32400/web/index.html#

Is there something similar for owncloud and transmission? A list somewhere with these alternatives? Some way I can figure out the alternative (I'm assuming the 32400 is the variable)?

There is evidently something amiss with your network.

ownCloud is accessed on port 80 like most apps. Transmission does use a different port, which is 9091. Did you check the logs for errors? All app installs are logged in /var/hda/amahi-app-installer.log.

Do you have your HDA as DHCP and DNS server? No other routers in the network performing those functions?

Might try the network troubleshooter to see if everything is correct. The fact that your DNS is not working correctly leads me to think there is something else setting it in your network.

Got it... Time Warner recently sent a new modem. Turns out its also a router. So, removed my asus router from the setup, disabled dhcp on the time warner router, and now everything works. Thanks for all the help.
