Hi guys, I wonder if you could help me, I'm having a bit of an issue installing Amahi, finding it very frustrating to be falling at the first hurdle!
Basically, I'm trying to install Amahi from a USB onto a system that's already running Debian. I want to remove Debian completely, and just use the machine as a home server.
When I turn on the computer with the USB inserted and the hard drive connected, it boots straight into GRUB and then Debian like it usually would.
If I enter any BIOS key commands at boot (to change boot priority or get to the BIOS menu etc), I just get a black screen.
If I disconnect the Debian HD and force it to boot from USB by making it the only bootable device available, it seems to work, but then I get a message saying "secure boot not enabled" and then what looks like some really squashed text at the top of the screen.
I've checked the md5 hash of the iso and it is correct, and I've tried installing Fedora with the intent of installing Amahi on top afterwards, but getting the same problems as above.
Any ideas what the problem could be? A quick Google suggests I need to disable the UEFI boot setting, but I can't do this cause I can't get to the BIOS menu. I'm sure my keyboard is working, because if I don't press anything at all, it boots to Debian, whereas if I do, I just get a black screen, so it is doing something!
Thanks in advance!

Re: Trouble installing Amahi from USB
Think I may have solved my own issue, after extensive headscratching/Googling, I have a feeling it could be due to using a HD TV as a monitor, which the BIOS menu doesn't play nice with. Not at the machine right now, but I'm gonna try hooking up an old VGA monitor when I am and seeing if I have any joy accessing BIOS menu then!
Wish me luck!

Re: Trouble installing Amahi from USB
We do not officially support USB install. The officially supported install is the Express CD. There is an unsupported tutorial in the wiki that might help, titled Fedora 19 USB install.

Re: Trouble installing Amahi from USB
Is the CD install much different from installing from an ISO copied to USB with a tool like RUFUS then?
I was under the impression that for all intents and purposes the type of installation media would make no difference, as seems to be the case with most OS installs these days, but I take it this is not correct?
Thanks for the tip, do you expect I'm more likely to be successful installing from a CD?

The actual install will be no different with the CD, other than the media. Is the CD install much different from installing from an ISO copied to USB with a tool like RUFUS then?
Many ISOs will work fine from USB using the method you mentioned. However, this has not been the case with Amahi 7.I was under the impression that for all intents and purposes the type of installation media would make no difference, as seems to be the case with most OS installs these days, but I take it this is not correct?
You will be more successful using the Express CD vs USB in my opinion. That is why it's the only officially supported install method. Thanks for the tip, do you expect I'm more likely to be successful installing from a CD?

Re: Trouble installing Amahi from USB
Thanks a lot, is there a recommended method of burning the image to a DVD or can I burn it like any other ISO? There doesn't seem to be any specific method mentioned in the guide.
Re: Trouble installing Amahi from USB
You can use pretty much anything you want. I use CD Burner XP for mine.

Re: Trouble installing Amahi from USB
So I'm OK to just use disc image burner in Windows 7?
(sorry for all the questions, just I'm at work without access to the machine, and I need to burn the DVD here as the only computer I have at home with a DVD burner is the one I'm trying to install Amahi on!)
Thanks!

Re: Trouble installing Amahi from USB
Just thought I would throw it out there. I downloaded the ISO and wrote to a USB using win32diskimager. I got the TSC error on boot and hit escape and the install was smooth sailing from there.
