"Additonal Packages" in Ubuntu 12.04.2 install

Postby rdagijones » Tue May 20, 2014 7:03 pm

I am trying my hand at an Amahi 6 for Ubuntu 12.04.2 install and I am unclear. What does this line mean in the installation wiki (http://docs.amahi.org/ubuntu-12.html):
Remember: do not select and install additional packages while installing Ubuntu. Amahi requires the default
Does it mean not to check the boxes?
  • Download updates while installing
    Install this Third-Party Software

Yes that is correct.

BTW, Amahi 7 on Fedora 19 is the latest stable release. Ubuntu is in maintenance mode, so no Amahi updates to the platform or apps will be completed.

I forgot I had asked this question and started the process. I did check Download updates while installing and Install this Third-Party Software but I don't seem to have any problems. What sort of trouble should I be seeing?

Secondly, how do I get Third-Party Software after the Amahi install?

It may not affect anything, but in the past there were some issues.

As for adding 3rd party packages after install, you will need to check the internet for guidance.
