Fedora commands

Postby dchill » Sat May 17, 2014 2:01 am

Hi.

Can anyone suggest a book or a site where I can start swatting up on basic Fedora commands?

Also can I load on my Amahi HDA an app that gives a file browser GUI? This would ease making new directories or changing permissions or owners far easier for a noob like me.

Please no quips or rhetorical answers on "if you want windows function, stick with windows" :)

Hello,

There are many places you can learn about Linux and the Fedora flavor specifically. We do have some guidance in the wiki which provides many of the commonly used commands.

As for file manager, there are a few options here. You can install one of the web apps, such as:
https://www.amahi.org/apps/ajaxplorer

or there is a graphical tool that you can use on the actual HDA via command line:

Best way to learn about linux is to play around.
