Hi everyone:
I live overseas and want to build a VPN "accelerator" for my home network (so I can stream U.S. content like Netflix, Amazon, etc. to my Roku). I currently use OpenVPN that works directly on my VPN-ready wireless router from Sabai Technologies.
However, I'd like to build my own VPN router out of an old computer (to accelerate/boost connection speed) into which i would then plug my wireless router to broadcast the VPN to all my wireless devices throughout my home.
So I would like to figure out how to set up a computer to: 1) do VPN acceleration that can then be connected to a wireless router; and 2) have the home server functions that Amahi offers so I can save lots of movies/data to stream locally on a Roku. Is this possible?
The only other option I can figure out is to purchase a VPN Accelerator from Sabai Technonlogies to use with my Sabai VPN router, and then put an old computer with Amahi behind that wireless router. But I'd prefer not to purchase the pre-built VPN accelerator as they are very expensive and it will take up yet more space near my wireless router.
Any words of wisdom?
Thanks very much!
Can Amahi function as VPN router/accelerator?

To be perfectly honest I would recommend just buying a VPN router, if your looking for stability that is.
May want to check out, I have a older version and it works great. All traffic from all devices(wired/wireless) moves over the VPN.

Thanks for the reply. I already have a VPN wireless router, but I'd like to get better speeds by using a computer to do the routing. After looking into this a little more, it looks like pfSense (open source routing software) would create the router, but not likely combined with Amahi on the same computer. If I am able to compile any of this setup, I will post for others who may be in the same situation as me.
Thanks.
