Greyhole working -- not shown in GUI

Postby xyrth » Sat Apr 19, 2014 11:53 am

Hello! I'm switching over from WHS (Always been a windows admin) to Amahi/Greyhole, and it has given me some difficulty. I've finally gotten greyhole working, but it doesn't show up in the GUI, and only pools 2/3 drives (I think these issues are related).

Code: Select all

[root@One01 drive3]# greyhole --stats Greyhole Statistics =================== Storage Pool Total - Used = Free + Trash = Possible /var/hda/files/drives/drive1/gh: 1834G - 90G = 1650G + 0G = 1650G /var/hda/files/drives/drive2/gh: 1834G - 93G = 1647G + 3G = 1650G /var/hda/files/drives/drive3/gh: Offline ========================================== Total: 3667G - 183G = 3298G + 3G = 3301G
this was the only way i could get the drives to work:

Code: Select all

storage_pool_drive = /var/hda/files/drives/drive1/gh, min_free: 10gb storage_pool_drive = /var/hda/files/drives/drive2/gh, min_free: 10gb storage_pool_drive = /var/hda/files/drives/drive3/gh, min_free: 10gb
and ...

Code: Select all

[root@One01 drive3]# uname -r; rpm -q samba amahi-greyhole 3.10.5-201.fc19.x86_64 samba-4.0.8-1.fc19.x86_64 amahi-greyhole-0.9.49-2.x86_64
I've been through most of the troubleshooting, but I'm going to keep plugging along.

Please help!

Got the queue working. also, this happened:

Code: Select all

Storage Pool Total - Used = Free + Trash = Possible /var/hda/files/drives/drive1/gh: 1834G - 110G = 1630G + 0G = 1630G /var/hda/files/drives/drive2/gh: 1834G - 111G = 1630G + 3G = 1633G /var/hda/files/drives/drive3/gh: 1834G - 16G = 1724G + 1G = 1725G ========================================== Total: 5501G - 238G = 4984G + 4G = 4987G
and I don't know why. Still no GUI.

Amahi 7 has no GUI as noted in the wiki guidance you followed to install it.

Man, I could have sworn there was a listing in there to go and select all drives once manually configured ... oh well. Seems to be working, but I would have never guessed that a 50gb lz would be such an issue, but it's not like I'm going to be transferring 300gb chunks on it every day.

Trust me I am. I wouldn't have gotten this far without it.

Thanks! Time to play.

There are some confusing things, and some things that need a bit more detail. Once I get more comfortable, I may add a bit to the wiki.

Right now, my frustrations are with migrating ~3TB of data to it. It seems to fill up the LZ (48GB) then kill the xfer. When it doesn't kill the xfer from a full LZ, any file over 4GB once copied to the LZ will freeze up everything while it copies to the pool. No commands can be run when it's doing this, and the xfer shows 0MB/s.

Additionally, the queue got stuck. I should have rebooted, but figured that it would be better to run the mysql trunc ... with a 90% full LZ, that I can't figure out how to empty. I'm a total n00b when it comes to navigating the mounts & drives, which I'm sure is 90% of my issue.

Hopefully these issues will go away once my data is back on it, I'm excited to actually use all the services.

We welcome any additional guidance that might help others in the wiki. Depending on what you come up with, we may want to make a separate page for it.

What we need maybe is an initial Greyhole data load page in the wiki that explains the limits based on the LZ and how to best add data in bulk.

If you have any suggestions, I'll take them. Starting over might be faster. How do I wipe out the LZ completely, if i don't care about retaining what is in it?
