SOLVED: Could not resolve host: f19.amahi.org

Postby collins » Wed Feb 12, 2014 9:58 am

I feel like this should be an obvious solution but I've tried several things with no luck.

I'm following the install instructions located here: https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_7_full_DVD

I got Fedora 19 installed but when I get to the part where I need to "Install the Amahi repo by hand", I get the following error:

Code: Select all

curl: (6) Could not resolve host: f19.amahi.org; Unknown error
I'm following the instructions, so here is the URL I'm using:

Code: Select all

rpm -Uvh http://f19.amahi.org/noarch/hda-release-6.9.0-1.noarch.rpm
Then it says the transfer failed and I'm stuck. I've checked that I am correctly typing the url for the repo several times. I've restarted and tried again. No dice.

My guess is that there is a new version of Amahi released since the instructions were released so the address changed, but I couldn't find the new address anywhere.

I also did some searching in the forum but couldn't find similar topics. Admittedly I didn't spend a TON of time looking, so if I missed it, please excuse my lack of search determination.

Some direction would be appreciated.

Can you ping any other sites?

I have followed that guidance not long ago and that correct repo address. Will have to look into it and see what I can determine.

You're right. Can't ping any sites at all. Looks like I'm not connected to the wireless network at all, which is weird because I was connected when I installed Fedora in the first place.

I'm not sure how to get it connected again.

Is the machine you are trying to install too wireless? If so, it won't work. The HDA is required to have a wired connection for install as a minimum. Should never be wireless.

Got it. Yes it is wireless, but I can fix that. Somehow I missed that requirement. I can plug in an ethernet cable and proceed that way. I'll post back afterward.

Now I can't get the ethernet working either. When I run:

Code: Select all

nmcli dev status
It's telling me that it's disconnected, even though I know that's not true.

I think my lack of Linux experience going to keep this from working.

You will need to do a reinstall. When you boot to F19 for install, it should pick up the wired connection automatically. You cannot switch from wireless to wired without starting from scratch easily.

Based on your post in a different topic area, I presume this is resolved.
