SOLVED: Plex install error - SHA1VerificationFailed

Postby Arusha » Mon Dec 16, 2013 2:51 pm

Trying to install the Plex app - finally got it to show up under installed apps, but service won't start. Latest entry from installer log:

Code: Select all

I thought I saw another thread about SHA1 during my googling, but I can't find it again.

This is on Ubuntu 12.04, Amahi 6. (IIRC, can't seem to find the version number anywhere?)

I will take a look and see if I can correct the issue. In future, please file an issue in the bug tracker vs here.

Checked sha1sum for packages and they are correct. What that tells me is your download failed to complete or was corrupt.

What you need to do is uninstall the app if it's installed, then as root user do:

Code: Select all

rm -rf /tmp/amahi-download/*
Then try reinstalling the app. If your connection or the mirror where the download is located is slow, it could cause problems. The package for Plex is quite large at around 65MB.

Tried uninstalling (went fine) and reinstall, which failed:

Code: Select all

OK plexmediaserver start/running, process 15972 Processing triggers for ureadahead ... ureadahead will be reprofiled on next reboot
.. and it dies there.

That is pretty much the error I got in my first try too.

I was watching the log with a tail -f during install and it was hanging a long time during the download part, but I think it's the mirror, because my connection isn't slow (20Mbit).

Now if I try to download the file (http://downloads.plexapp.com/plex-media ... _amd64.deb) with a browser I get a 517kb .deb file? (and download was near instantaneous, which confuses me).

What can I do? Increase the timeout on the script? Manually download the file and point the install script that way? Or just call it wasted money and move on?

EDIT: It actually appears to be working - though Settings/Servers claims it isn't running, but I saw a forum post on that problem.

The end of your log makes it look like it installed correctly.

There is no way to increase the time out on your end. It could be your connection or the mirror the app is trying to use for your location.

You might need to uninstall, then reboot, and try reinstall. I would check to see if it is working first though.

You may be able to download and install the .deb package manually after the app install if it still fails. The package is over 60MB so it takes some time to download.

Well it works fine, plays media and all. Just doesn't show up under installed apps (but does show as running under servers), but I guess that's only a problem if I ever need to uninstall.

Thanks for the help!

You may need to clear your browser cache, then check it again. If it's installed and working, it has to show in installed apps.
