Not sure if I have a complete install or not. Some, not all, of my shares are showing up. Those that are, I can play on my TV for the most part I think. Several other subdirectories -- actually the Videos subdirecoty -- is not showing up when I'm running DLNA from my TV.
I looked at the wiki, and did some change modding, but I still can't see the Videos subdirectory.
But my real concern is that even though I saw a message that the DLNA server had installed (thereby completing the 1-click install process), I do not see an icon for the DLNA server app on my HDA dashboard (i.e., alongside the app icons for my other couple apps, namely, the mediawiki, phpman, and Linfo. I am assuming that there should be an app icon, in case, for example, to facilitate an 'uninstall'.
Appreciate any thoughts. Thanks

Re: Amahi DLNA Install (on Amahi 7)
DLNA is not a LIVE app for Amahi 7, so it may not work correctly.
It is not a web app, so there will be no icon in the dashboard. It will show in the Apps tab under installed if all went well. You might check the app install log in /var/logs as well.
As for the shares, they should be owned by your first admin user:users, not apache:users. I presume your first admin user is admin, which by the way is a bad choice. Not a good idea to use a name that is typically a reserved name in Linux.

Understand it's beta. Are there alternatives that people are using ?
NOTE:
Some Amahi applications that share the same media files require specific ownership/permissions to media directories and files.
In the case of Fedora the following could apply:
bash code
cd /var/hda/files/
chown -vR apache:users movies
chmod -vR 775 *
cd movies
chmod -vR 775 *

On the apache point, I used the following. Maybe I was misreading this as a applying to me, but that's how I changed to Apache. On the "admin" point, do you recommend I change that ? Or, is it too late. It's going back a few weeks at least, but I'm certain I chose "admin" b/c I thought that was recommended in the install process in the install process of Amahi 7.As for the shares, they should be owned by your first admin user:users, not apache:users. Don't have any idea what others are using. Maybe nothing currently. You might check the app store.
As for the user, instructions state to create a user that will be an admin user. Don't recall it stating to call it admin. You can change it by creating a new user then making it admin. Once done delete the the other one.
For shares, not sure where you got the guidance but it's not specific to DLNA. You should follow this wiki article.

Re: Amahi DLNA Install (on Amahi 7)
Just noticed that the DLNA server on the app page is now green for Amahi 7 (fedora 19). I had installed the older version from a few weeks ago. What's the best way to proceed. Should I uninstall the version I'm running now and install the new version, or would installing the new version (w/o uninstalling the old version) suffice. Thanks
Re: Amahi DLNA Install (on Amahi 7)
Not possible to install 2 versions of the same app. Must unintall then reinstall.
BTW it now has a Web UI which reports number of files being served for each type: pics, movies, and music.
