SOLVED: External drive detected in Ubuntu 13.04 not AMAHI6.2

hi guys,

I have a USB 500GB External drive. formatted it under Ubuntu 13.04 and used EXT4. Made one big partition.

I have connected the USB drive to my HDA, but for some reason it wont detect is.

I followed the wiki:

but no change.

where should I start looking?

I want to use the external drive to backup files, before I upgrade to AMAHI7

how can I check if it is detected when I connect it? what log file do I tail?

when I

# tail -f /var/log/messages

and connect the drive....nothing happens...

Not sure what log it will show up in, but should see in the /dev folder. I had to reboot last time I connected a USB drive.

could it be that auto-detect got disabled?
