Find out what? Suggest you check to ensure your router DHCP server is off.

Here's a question. Because I'm using Ubuntu server 12.04, I had to do the work around according to the installation. What did that do? I noticed it changed dhcp to static.

Yes it has something to do with the networking piece. We don't recommend using server due to the problems we have encountered recently. I believe there is a warning on https://docs.amahi.org web site.
We recommend using desktop version.

I did the work around. If it's a work around, shouldn't it still work. What did the work around do?

One would hope, but does not in every case. Server version is too unpredicitable in my opinion.

Re: setting up Amahi on Ubuntu Server 12.04.2 LTS
Thank you for your help. I have decided I will start from scratch and try the Desktop version. I do have a couple questions on the install that has come to mind if you don't mind me asking.
1. When I installed Ubuntu Server LTS, i did the LVM partition and allocated 68GB. let me also state that i have 2x73.6GB HDD and I have to create an array for the installer to recognize a harddrive to install to. I was hoping to not have to do that but oh well. I noticed though that after i installed Ubuntu Server LTS, my total open space was 46GB. How did this happen, if you have an idea.
2. Since i plan on using this more as a server, is it possible, after installing Ubuntu Desktop LTS, to setup a virtual desktop for the server and uninstall the GUI so that more memory, CPU, etc... is available for rendering? or does the GUI packages have to be installed to run a virtual desktop? I am just trying to get the most of the machine.
The plan is to use the server more as a "rendering farm" that i can access from anywhere (inside and outside of network), more than a file storage device, though it would need to be able to do that so that the image files used to render can be stored locally.
Thank again.

Re: setting up Amahi on Ubuntu Server 12.04.2 LTS
You really don't need LVM if using Greyhole. I will pool all the drives. Not sure what the issue is with the drive spacing. Not necessary to do a RAID set up either as Greyhole will pool the drives and replicate files acrossed drives as you specify with the shares. I personally do not do RAID as often when it breaks, it's a bear to fix.1. You don't want to remove the GUI as it may break things with the OS and/or Amahi. In order to use VNC you will need it.2.
