I removed the folders, but there are still entries under web-apps in the web interface.

Did you ensure the app was not listed in the installed apps tab?

If you cannot remove the Web app links, you may have to manually delete them from the hda_production database. It appears the app installed most of the way, but did not finish.

Ok, I'm back to square one. Freshly installed Amahi. One click installed Plex, same issue with dependencies. One click uninstalled and did an apt-get install -f to resolve the dependencies. Reinstalled Plex. Everything look good except that the plex server will not show as started, and the web interface for it is down.

Code: Select all

Seeing as -f handled everything I wonder if the one click uninstall has actually gotten everything. Apt certainly seemed to think plex packages were still present.

This is an odd situation. The depends it says is missing should have been present by default with the OS. Not sure why they are not, especially since you did a reinstall.

After uninstall, try doing:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove plexmediaserver
and see if that does anything.

What version of Ubuntu did you install? Also are other apps installing and working correctly?

Other apps are fine so far, but I haven't really tried to do anything with this install yet. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 server.

Uninstalled plex one click that apt-get remove, apt-get remove ran and reported freeing 158mb. Re ran one click install and now I have a web interface (and just when I was about to throw up my arms and try a desktop install). Second time I tried it actually, the first I ran apt-get BEFORE one click uninstall and the reinstalled server wasn't working. Basically I'm getting the feeling that some packages that aren't being installed on server are assumed and the scripts are breaking inelegantly.

PS: on further investigation the server is still reporting as stopped, so I'll be back once I test some media and see if it's ACTUALLY up or not (though I don't imagine the web interface would be functional without the media server I'm not sure how indpendent Plex's components are).

It all seems to be working fine BTW, just not recording as up in the servers tab.

Yes something is not quite right. When you did the new install of Ubuntu, did you use the latest? 12.04.2 or a different one. I presume you followed the instructions at https://docs.amahi.org as well.

Did you say this is server install? We have had issues with that version and recommend only to use Desktop. That may be the issue.

I am gonna add depends for avahi-daemon and avahi-utils to the app as a precaution since server install does not seem to install it by default. We typically only test on Desktop version, so that may have caught up with us this time :)

You can try again and see if it helps.

I did follow the instructions and use the latest server iso. I will try a desktop install if I run into anything else, but this has been the only real hiccup so far; for now I'll stick with what seems to be a working box.

No problem. I have added those two dependencies to the app, so it should now work with Server version.
