Will this app work on Amahi

Postby rdagijones » Thu May 02, 2013 6:28 am

I am looking at using Guacamole (a remote desktop manager) on my Amahi. The dependencies are:
  • tomcat6
    libvncserver
    freerdp
    libvorbis
Are any of these going to be a problem on Amahi?

There should be no conflicts unless you already have Amahi VNC installed. May have to remove it before going forward.

If you document your steps along the way, we might be able to make it an Amahi one-click app.

Recommend you make a backup of your HDA before starting. If it breaks something, then at least you have a restore point.

What is the most effective way you suggest to back it up?

There is a Fedora package for Guacamole but it does not put it in the "web-app" location. Am I going to have to go from source or do you think there is a concern?

I would use the RPM for Fedora and then you can do symbolic links to the web app folder for the applicable files. Source is a good way to go, but often it's hard to get all the pieces right.

Use Clonezilla Live CD. Best way to back up the OS drive in my opinion.

OK, how do I make the symbolic link? I can access guacamole's login screen at http://127.0.0.1:8080/guacamole but only in the hda itself (obviously since that is the localhost).

Know any tricks I can use to find out what directories or files I need to link? On the server if I put http://127.0.0.1:8080/guacamole in the server's browser I get the login screen for Guacamole. How do I figure out what to link in /var/hda/web-apps/guacamole/http so that http://guacamole.myserver.com brings up the webapp?
