Help tried updating bind DNS now its not working

Postby kevshoe » Tue Jan 15, 2013 11:17 am

Hey Guys, I need help I tried updating some things with webmin first I did all samba files no problems then I tried bind DNS stuff there were 3 the first one it did without a problem the next two failed. Sorry not sure which one went and ones that failed. Of course now I cant get webmin to come back, I turned off dhcp and of course DNS isn't working turned dhcp back on in my router now the network is back online. But I'm not sure the HDA is online, my HDA is headless so im using putty and every time I try to install something to try to fix this none of the fedora repository's are working is there something I can run to see if its online, or please tell me how to fix this. It has been up and running for a year now and I love it but I couldn't leave it alone and I broke it:( Fedora 14

Webmin is a dangerous tool and should only be used by advanced users. Futhermore using it to make changes to the OS configurations can break Amahi.

My recommendation would be to try and undo what you did with Webmin. If you cannot, there is a possibility you may have to do a fresh install. I am sorry that is not helpful, but messing with settings is often a recipe for disaster.

If you are wanting to do OS updates, it's best to do it command line. A simple yum update as root users is all it takes. Since this is Fedora 14, there are not many updates unless this is a new install.

Thanks, That's what I tried it goes through and at the end it says no more mirrors to try. Is there a way I can check to make sure it has internet connection?

Sounds like a connectivity problem. I am using Fedora 14 and all the mirrors are working for me. Maybe try a yum clean metadata and yum clean all?
