I've been using Amahi for a few years now, this particular one for over a year. Never had a problem until today when it stopped resolving external DNS host names. I'm the only one with access to it and other than a recent aptitude update, aptitude upgrade to upgrade my plex server that resides on the same box nothing has changed in over a month.
Here is the results from the Network Troubleshooter Using the Network Troubleshooter, I failed step 7 - DNS resolving for external hostnames. Here's a paste to help troubleshoot: http://sprunge.us/ZGeA
Also because previous posts mention it I ran ps -e|grep named and get these results
2993 ? 00:00:00 named
3021 ? 00:00:00 named
I've switched over to DNS from my router but this is an almost critical piece of my home network so any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Server working for over a year now fails to resolve exte
Check to see if the DNS server is still running. Look in the dashboard under Settings-->Servers. Also you can change the DNS provider on the HDA to use google or your local ISP as well.
The wiki has guidance:
http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Changin ... S_provider
Hope that helps.

Re: Server working for over a year now fails to resolve exte
Dns is still running
Running "hda-change-Dns 8.8.8.8 4.2.2.2"
Among other name servers all had the same results.
The service named doesn't seem to exist nor does /etc/named.conf
If I can get help recreating those I think I can get it working again.

Re: Server working for over a year now fails to resolve exte
If named is running, then they should exist. Might check the status of it by doing /etc/init.d/named as root user.
If that does not work, I could attach a copy of mine and you could try recreating it.

however even with that the hda manager does say DNS is running, so something got borked but I'm not sure how to fix it.
Re: Server working for over a year now fails to resolve exte
Odd. Wonder is named/bind was uninstalled.
Might wanna check the logs in /var/log to see if you can find any trace of issues. There is a yum log too, so that might provide a clue.

So all is well now? I thought you were using Fedora as you never specified. Guess I should not have assumed.
