I just purchased utorrent and installed on Ahmahi and . . . nothing. I cannot access web app on my lan. I have tried every address I can think of: hda.mydomain.com:8080/gui/ or utorrent.mydomain.com:8080/gui/ or utorrent:8080/gui/ or hda:8080/gui/. Installation log looks clean. I am running Amahi DNS but not DHCP.
I am starting to suffer from the linux syndrome again, as the last three applications I have installed just don't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated as one of the main aspect of building my Amahi server was as a media server with an emphasis on hosting/downloading torrents. First, I installed and qbittorrent, and it constantly crashed to the point it was unusable. Now after installing utorrent, it is DOA.
Cannot access utorrent after installation
Re: Cannot access utorrent after installation
What platform are you running, i.e. Fedora 14, Ubuntu, etc? Also have you checked the app install logs? They are located in /var/log.
Have you pointed your router to the HDA for DNS? Do the apps work directly from the HDA? The dashboard links should work to access the apps. If they do not, then that typically means something is amiss in the network.

Re: Cannot access utorrent after installation
Running Fedora 14 with DNS enabled, but with DHCP being handled by a gateway server. I've checked the logs, and nothing looks amiss. Some of the links from the Amahi dashboard work and some don't, apparently because of not using Amahi as the DHCP server. However, all apps (with the exception of uTorrent) are accessible via long name url (ie. qtorrent.mydomainname.com). I cannot see anything that would cause this behavior.
At this point I am just frustrated as qTorrent constantly crashes to the point it is unusable and now uTorrent is completely inaccessible. At this point, I would prefer just to find out how to get a credit for the uTorrent purchase and just go with a seedbox for my torrenting. Unfortunately, spending hours trying to troubleshoot a torrent application installation is just not worth my time.

Re: Cannot access utorrent after installation
I had a lot of issues trying to set up uTorrent with Amahi. As uTorrent is still Alpha on Linux (for several years, now) support is limited to a very small base of users. Unfortunately most of these users have never even heard of Amahi.
I don't know if it will help you, but I just finished setting up Deluge and Flexget (linked to my trakt.tv account for easy updating of my watch list) on Ubuntu home server fairly effortlessly. Now have a headless Ubuntu Server with MythTV, MythWeb, Deluge, and Amahi, of course. Was well worth the upgrade from Fedora and there are lots of current online guides.

Re: Cannot access utorrent after installation
There are other torrent solutions as well, such as qBittorrent that might meet your needs.
http://www.amahi.org/apps/qbittorrent
Not sure if you noticed, but the uTorrent app is ALPHA for both Fedora and Ubuntu. This means they are still being worked, not stable and may contain bugs or not work. When purchasing/installing apps that are not LIVE, you accept the risk that they may not work. Recommend in future you evaluate the risk before installing an app that is not LIVE.
