OpenVPN ALS Crashed my system.. Help?
OpenVPN ALS Crashed my system.. Help?
Hi guys, so here is the thing. After installation of OpenVPN ALS all web interface front end of my HDA stopped working. I still see shares and still can connect to VPN. Is it possible to remove this app using terminal? SSH works just fine... Thank you. And yes I am running test build of amahi on ubuntu.
Re: OpenVPN ALS Crashed my system.. Help?
There is something odd going on here as I have tested the app. The install and uninstall went fine with no issues. Maybe a connectivity issue that prevented a successful install.
There really is no simple way to remove apps other than via dashboard. There is a command line uninstall script, but untested in Ubuntu. I believe it requires input parameters which you may not have access too, i.e. app id.
Keep in mind you are using a unstable Amahi version as we are still making changes. If you can check /var/log/amahi-app-installer.log file it might provide some clues as to the problem. You could also consider rebooting the HDA or have you already done that?

Hmm, I have done rebooting and tried to restart httpd but system said that there is no such service. I unerstand that this version is supposed to be unstable so consider this bug reporting. Ptobably easiest thing Is to reinstall OS.

Fedora is httpd, but Ubuntu is apache. The command is .
Reinstalling is probably best. If you would be so kind to report the issue in the bug tracker, it would be greatly appreciated. You might wanna try again after a reinstall before reporting.
Did you check the log files? If there is any errors listed there, it might explain the problem.
Code: Select all
sudo service apache2 restart

BigFoot,
Restarting apache and removing adito.did solve the problem. due to lack of free time I am not willing to try it again, however do you think i should post it as a bug anyways?
thanks!
Btw do you think it will be months or weeks till we get a 99% working beta for ubuntu?

Re: OpenVPN ALS Crashed my system.. Help?
Glad it worked. No point in filing a bug unless you can provide details such as logs, etc. We would like to diagnose problems before you uninstall the app. I really don't think the app is broke, but something did not go right with your install.
As for when Ubuntu will be released, we are hoping by the end of this month. If all goes well and there are no outlying issues, we hope to start work on Fedora 17 shortly after.
Thanks for the feedback.

Re: OpenVPN ALS Crashed my system.. Help?
I would start with the /var/log/amahi-app-installer.log first. It shows the app install and if there are any errors, they will show up there.
My install today went fine, so not sure what could be the cause of your issue. If you have a slow connection, the install might be timing out.

Re: OpenVPN ALS Crashed my system.. Help?
It looks like just a random bug.. Does not repeat itself
Re: OpenVPN ALS Crashed my system.. Help?
That's what I was afraid of. It's probably not a bug, but something to do with connectivity with the installer and your HDA. We have very few documented cases where the app failed. For most of those that did, it boiled down to slow connection to the download and patch sites.
Any time an app fails, first place to look is the log file. That often will point to the cause.
