Fedora 17 install never asks for a "repository"

Postby TL2020 » Sat Jun 02, 2012 7:46 pm

I do not know how to install Amahi from a fresh Fedora 17 install. (The online-instructions are for a Fedora 14 install.)

I tried once before from a Fedora 14 install, which did ask about installing packages from a "repository", but this Fedora install never visited the "repository" question.

1- How do install Amahi when the OS install avoided the "repository" question?
2- Do I need to make sure that everything I do is under root super-user and not the default non-admin user (which I created as part of the admin group)?
3- How do I make sure that everything I do is under root super-user?
4- Any other 'gotchas' I should be watching for?

Thx folks!

Hello,

First of all Amahi does not support Fedora 17 yet. We will be working on that down the road.

As for Fedora 14 install, please follow the instructions on the web site. They describe how to add the repository.

For installing on systems that never ask for a repo, you may want to use the alternative install method..

http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Self-install-existing

I tried this with F17 in a VM recently and had quite a number of dependency issues.
...which is something I'm no good at dealing with.

Could someone explain how to deal with dependency issues??

Fedora 17 will not work. There are some platform and dependencies that have to be upgraded. Hence why we have not started extensive development yet.

We plan to start soon, but until then I am afraid trying to install Amahi on Fedora 17 is pointless. The dependency issues cannot be resolved without a platform update.

BTW, Fedora 14 does have a place to add the Amahi repo. Read the instructions on the web site I referred to in the previous post.
