Installing now.

First issue I've seen is the Ubuntu installer won't let you mount an existing partition as /var/hda/files (and /var/hda/files/drives/driveN where N is 1-whatever) without wiping it out. That could be a Ubuntu issue we just have to live with though.

Update. We decided to change things and simplify a little.

The official repo is now known as

Code: Select all

u12.amahi.org
The wiki directions have been changed to reflect that.

Also, greyhole is now in the repo. Not sure if it will install (i.e. untested).

Please test installs and report how this updated repo is working!

Great!

As soon as Greyhole and Amahi DLNA are working I am moving my HDA to this.

Thanks!

Greyhole is being installed now. DLNA may take a while .. very complex app (lots of dependencies!).

Just found a thread which could help you save some time:

Guide to Installing and Running MiniDLNA on an Ubuntu Server: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1866520

Ubuntu packages are available, so I guess you "could" use the source deb and integrate the amahi config file?

So far, install experience has gone quite well. Only one error during the install-amahi script...

Starting VPN server ...
cannot open '/usr/share/hdactl/vpn/' for reading

Amahi.org shows my HDA running, however. And http://hda came up just fine. And I didn't reboot yet.

Hi. Relative newbie here. Had perfectly running Amahi on Fedora 14 and loved it! Just switched to Ubuntu 12.04 server (clean install) after rpm fusion officially dropped Fedora 14 support.

I have Amahi up and running and have some apps and shares set up and all seems to be going well except that the DHCP functionality randomly stops working - it will usually work after I reboot the server and router (DHCP is disabled on router - Asus RT-N56U) but will break sometime later. I have static IP addresses setup for all my devices in Amahi. If I manually configure each device they can connect. DNS seems to always work. Again, with Amahi 6 on Fedora 14 in this same software/hardware configuration I was not experiencing this issue.

Like I said, I'm a newbie so I will need some assistance if there are some commands you all would like me to run for troubleshooting (I'm always happy to help make this software more awesome). As an FYI, because I like pain when I'm learning, I'm running a headless server without a desktop...command line only.
