[SOLVED] Boot looking for sda, boot files are on sdc

Postby cweydig » Thu Apr 12, 2012 12:05 pm

I'm a total newbie, so if I misspeak or whatnot, please forgive...

I had to completely reinstall Fedora. I followed the directions on the Amahi site very carefully. Everything seemed to go well until I rebooted. Fedora started loading, and stopped shortly after. It went to a text screen and said that /dev/sda could not be mounted because it is already in use.

The only problem is, there is no "sda". I tried the install again, and double-checked when I was setting up the partition... the boot drive is labeled "sdc". I could not find any option to change that. Is there a way to make Fedora look for "sdc" instead of "sda," or can I somehow rename "sdc" to "sda"?

I did not have this problem with the first install I had done (although there were other problems, hence the reinstall), and I cannot remember if the drive was labeled "sdc" or "sda" that time.

Is there more than one drive in the system? If so, disconnect all but OS drive. Also when installing tell it to use full disk.
