I was double-clciking the desktop icon "Amahi HDA Setup", and the message "Rails application failed to start properly".
same thing when I type "http:/setup" in the browser's address bar.
Looking at the log file in /var/hda/platform/html/log, I see errors, and just before the error, these are the commands invoked:
/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rails-2.1.1/lib/fcgi_handler.rb:77:in `process_each_request'
/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rails-2.1.1/lib/fcgi_handler.rb:76:in `catch'
/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rails-2.1.1/lib/fcgi_handler.rb:76:in `process_each_request'
/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rails-2.1.1/lib/fcgi_handler.rb:50:in `process!'
/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rails-2.1.1/lib/fcgi_handler.rb:24:in `process!'
/public/dispatch.fcgi:24
Rendering /var/hda/platform/html/public/500.html (500 Internal Server Error)
Any help?
Thx- Todd
Rails application failed to start properly-hda setup
Re: Rails application failed to start properly-hda setup
Nevermind. since I had just done the install, I did a clean wipe and reinstalled everything. It is now working properly.
Re: Rails application failed to start properly-hda setup
great to hear you are up and running. some times the mirrors can time out, depending on which part of the world you are in and your network connection to the mirror that you happen to hit at the time of the install.

Re: Rails application failed to start properly-hda setup
Hey,
I am new to Amahi, and encountered the same error after a clean first install of F10 and amahi following the instructions. After seeing this post i tried again with a clean install and same error.
Searching the net I see this: http://6brand.com/application-error-rai ... t-properly
It gets a bit technical, so I just want to know if anybody have any ideas as to what i have done wrong.
Logs are empty btw...
David

Re: Rails application failed to start properly-hda setup
the error is in a file called:
if you can share the errors in it, it would be useful (either PM - private message here in the forums), or just cutting a snippet with the errors, or use http://amahi.pastebin.com
i see a pattern that apparently has started in the last couple of days. so i am thinking maybe it's an incompatible issue introduced by fedora upstream.
Code: Select all
/var/hda/platform/html/logs/production.log

Re: Rails application failed to start properly-hda setup
Hi,
I am absolutely serious when I say that the log is empty... I am at work now and will look again when i get home. But I know that i looked in that, in development and dispatch (i think it was) in that folder and they were all empty. But I will look again.
I updated fedora after installing both times. Perhaps i should get my hands on an older version that you know works and avoid the updates? Could you link me to a veersion of Fedora that should work?
David

Re: Rails application failed to start properly-hda setup
just a hunch here. did you set or change the root password for mysql by any chance?
amahi does not support that at the moment.

Re: Rails application failed to start properly-hda setup
I did not set anything for mysql.
I followed instructions for installing F10, including setting a root password, and creating a user. after install i accepted the updates for F10 that was presented to me and then I doubleclicked the link to amahi and firefox opens with the error.

Re: Rails application failed to start properly-hda setup
logs in that place are indeed all empty.
however, error_log at
contains a:
[Thu Jul 02 19:11:33 2009] [warn] (104)Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: read data from fastcgi server error.
[Thu Jul 02 19:11:33 2009] [error] [client 10.10.10.10] Premature end of script headers: dispatch.fcgi
repeated as many times as i tried to run the application.

Re: Rails application failed to start properly-hda setup
well. the DVD version should have worked.
this is going to be hard to do over the forums, but let's try. a better alternative is the irc. look for cpg.
can you try this as root:
and then hit http://hda:3000 with a browser.
seee what happend on the ./script/server output. share it here with a PM or (better), http://amahi.pastebin.com
