Is the f12 repo no longer available?

Postby modplod » Sat Mar 31, 2012 9:46 am

Recently I tried re installing amahi but was unsuccessful. I was using fedora 12 as this offers all that I need and does not require any partitioning on my part. Could not get f14 working the way I wanted it to.

It appears that it's offline. That may be due to the fact that Fedora 14 is the latest for Amahi. I will have to check with our core to see if it can be put back online.

Is there a reason why Fedora 14 is not working as you desire? The partitioning for install can be easily modified. We have wiki guidance that provides the steps necessary to make it all work.

If there is anything we can do to assist, please let us know.

I have tried on a couple of occasions to install the f14 version but have found the f12 version to be perfect for what I need. I do not need greyhole or duplication. I have found that installing f12 automatically pools my 2 drives without any input from me. f14 for some reason just gives me a 50gb data partition and ignores the extra space I have. I have seen the partitioning guide for f14 but this seems to be for greyhole which I do not need or want. I really liked the dhcp and dns servers which seemed to speed up my browsing. Is there a partitioning guide for f14 that is not for using greyhole

Thx

You can redo the partition setup in Fedora 14 without losing the LVM which is what does the pooling. There is plenty of help via google to show you how to redo the partitioning scheme that Fedora 14 invokes. You can also go with the default partition scheme and use other tools to resize them after install. gParted is one that you can use.

This might help as well. It tells how to remove LVM and then recreate it with resized partitions.

I can understand how you want to stay with Fedora 12. BTW, we are looking into bring the Fedora 12 repo back on line, but I cannot make any promises. Greyhole is also present in Fedora 12, but you can turn it off. There is guidance in the wiki for that as well.

Looks like we may have revived the Fedora 12 repo. Please try and let us know.

I finished installing f12 and it went flawlessly, my two drives were combined into one large drive. I then continued on with the amahi install. When I tried to start amahi however it said there were components missing from "ruby on rails". I am now wondering if I upgrade my fedora installation to f14 can I do that without changing the partitioning scheme I have now....

Thank you for your assistance

Sorry things are still now working for you. Did you do a Fedora 12 update? Maybe that has something to do with the error.

Upgrading is not too bad, however it always works better when its a fresh install versus upgrade. I don't recall many issues with the upgrade process, but expect there might be a few.

Good luck and let us know if we can help!
