my machine has an SSD as the boot drive as sde1 and 4 2 TB hard drives as sda1, sdb1, sdc1, and sde1. The Four drives are grouped into a RAID 5 using MDADM as /dev/md0.
my problem is that when the machine reboots it gets as far as the gnome loading screen (i'm running fedora 14) and then it dumps back to the command line because it says something like 'can't find /dev/md0' superblock not found or something.
When I reboot again from the commandline it boots copasetic.... However when i run mdadm --detail /dev/md0 it says that that the RAID is degraded and one of the drives is being kept as a hot spare. When I re-add it to the array, everything is copasetic, however, if i wait a while and reboot, same stuff happens.
what gives. I've been having way too much downtime on my HDA
HDA crashing on reboot
Re: HDA crashing on reboot
Sounds like you need to lose the RAID setup. With LVM or Greyhole, there is not a big need for RAID in my opinion.
