express installer

Postby jrlrocks » Sun Mar 04, 2012 8:16 pm

Hello,

I'm new to the forum. I'm a windows guy. I understand networking and I'm tired of using a windows PC as a server, I won't spend the money for the Home Server. I have:

DQ57TM Intel board
I5 processor 3.33Ghz
8GB RAM
3X1.5TB drives
1X 300GB drive

I tried the express installer as I thought it would be the simplest way to get completely setup and from what I can tell the PC is not getting an IP address. So I rebooted... nothing... I reinstalled with default everything (I had my network IP at 10.10.0.1 so I changed it all to 192.168....) and did a fresh default install and I still don't think I get an IP address... I've spent the last 2 hours trying to find answers and I'm heading to bed. (I have done a fedora install before and then f14 repositories with no issues) I went with the express install as I didn't like having to setup my drives for greyhole and was hoping the express installer did it all. (I really just want to control everything from the browser... headless.

Thank you for your grace on my noobness.... If you can direct me without beating me for not knowing the forums as well as the vet's do I'd greatly appreciate your experience. :-)

Jay

If you can, try the full DVD install. I think people have had problems with the express install.

Thanks. Is the full install installing fedora and pointing to f14 repo or is there a better way?
