I have set up Amahi on Fedora 14 and updated to latest software packages as DNS server went down and couldn't get it restarted and it works ok on my home network - I run it as the DNS server but not DHCP server. Using OS 10.7.3 and iTunes 10.5.3.
Amahitunes doesn't work and I don't think I am up to the task of the instructions for the forked version here:

Do I have any other options?
What are other people doing? if I run the DLNA server will that be seen by iTunes?
Just need to stream to iTunes. Is that too much to ask ? :)

Your best bet is to follow the guidance in the wiki.

We hope to get AmahiTunes fixed one day to be compatible with the latest iTunes. I am not aware of any other apps that can stream to iTunes. If there is one, hopefully someone can point it out.

I did it - I think.
Just installed the 2 latest rpms from the netmindz site and uninstalled the amahitunes (forgot to do that originally).
Edited the conf file so my music was found and it seems to be working.
The server does not seem to be "enabled" in services - I guess that means it doesn't run at boot. Where do I set that up?

As root user, do the following:
That should ensure if starts on reboot.
Code: Select all
chkconfig forked-daapd onßîgƒσστ65

I get the message:
Code: Select all
service forked-daapd does not support chkconfigRe: Just need to stream to iTunes. Is that too much to ask ?
Interesting. So it does not restart on reboot, correct? You can do this as root user:
Then to save, do <esc>-w-q and press <enter>. It should save the file. Now when the machine reboots, it will start the service as apache.
Then when it opens, add the following line:crontab -e -u apache
Code: Select all
@reboot /etc/init.d/forked-daapd startßîgƒσστ65
