Standalone server

Postby Mickerik » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:14 pm

Is it possible to mod Amahi just as a standalone server without the DNS, DHCP, etc?

I can access "hda", and install apps without any change to my network, yet to access those apps isn't possible unless I rely on the built in DNS/DHCP.

To access say, the gallery by typing hda://gallery instead of needing the inbuilt servers to resolve gallery3.home.com, or whatever it was. In effect, use the hda as a webserver.

No, there is functionality that will not be available to all clients in your network. See the FAQ on the web site.

Thanks, Bigfoot. I understand the faq, but even this: "They will probably see the file server in the HDA, though it may only be accessible with an IP address, not a name". could be sidestepped using a static entry in the router.

All my NAS features are accessible to all machines on the LAN without changes to clients. I think it could be possible to change the hda configs to allow similar, no ties use. It should be possible, though I don't have the knowledge to even start.
