I had same issue, and I had to adjust permissions on the folders. CPG gave me the command. I do not have it on hand at the moment.
I ran this and it fixed the issue.

Does anyone have an update on this issue? I too have Greyhole running. A bug was opened, but the link was not posted on this thread, so I don't know where to look for it.

This seemed most appropriate place to post this rather than make a new thread. Having a similar issue.

I'm trying to get video to work over DLNA so I can watch on Xbox 360.

Video is spread over two Greyhole shares, Movies (amahi default), and TV which I have added.

I have added the TV line to the DLNA conf file. However I only see files in my movies folder when I access the media server. I ran the line on the DLNA wiki page

Code: Select all

cd /var/hda/files/movies && chown -R myusername:users *
as root (if I ran it as not root I got lots of error messages!). Then I restarted DLNA the server using Amahi control panel.

Low and behold I had some TV files. although hardly any, the first 5 or so. Undettered I tried to repeat the above double checking everything. Now even those 5 TV episodes have vanished and I am back to having nothing except movies! Please help!

This seems to be a pretty important issue which has yet to be resolved. I double checked the preferences of all of my movies and music... they seem fine.

I stopped amahi-dlna, removed files.db, and restarted amahi-dlna... will see if it works correctly now.

Very Odd that I have nearly the same issue. I added another share "/var/hda/files/tv" to my server, and then to the DLNA conf file. I rebooted my whole HDA and I could see the folders and files from the new share. Then I added more folders and files to the share. They did not show up, so I restarted just the DNLA server form the Amahi control panel. Now all I have is my movie share and it's folders. I checked the DLNA conf file and my addition is still there. I restarted it again, but nothing changes. It simply does not read it's own conf file and add the media from the additional share. Any thoughts out there? Oh, I am using Greyhole for all of my shares. Does not seem to be a problem with my movie share though.

I suspect this is due to a bug that was fixed in a later version of minidlna. If you read the release notes for version 1.0.19 of minidlna, it says "- Properly scan newly created directory symlinks."

Is there a documented way to rebuild the Amahi-DLNA package with the updated version of minidlna?

Probably not a documented way, but you can replace files fairly easily. I do not recall where they are installed, but doing the following as root will show:

Code: Select all

rpm -ql amahi-dlna
Once you find them, backup the old files and add the new ones. We would greatly appreciate if you documented the steps in the wiki for others.

Ugh I am having the same problems, I have tried referencing both my local samba shares on my hda and my actual greyhole folder.. this is really annoying. I'm kind of pissed I paid 5 dollars for it if it will not work correctly.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. It would be more helpful if you could provide some info on your setup. Is this Full DVD install or Express CD? Have you checked the log files? Have you installed the mount_shares_local script for Greyhole? I have not had any issues and I use Greyhole.

We would be happy to help troubleshoot, but need details. You can also stop by the IRC, #amahi channel for live help.

I have solved my problem, it was a simple permissions problem. All i had to do was chmod 775 my folder where my dlna database was stored and it magically started working again. I was about to go crazy having to restart the server every time i added something, then having to wait so that it could build the new database.
