dhcp on router

Postby csc » Tue Jan 17, 2012 3:43 am

Hello,

I have a Linksys WRT54G router and when I turn off DHCP on the router I cannot get on internet.
How do I connect to internet and use the DHCP of my AMAHI server?

Recommend you check the user manual for your router. There may be some settings you need to specifically configure.

Also, when you turned off the DHCP, did you release/renew the DHCP lease on your client? That must be done so it gets it from the HDA.

I did ipconfig /release and /renew on the windows client.

My IP on the server is 192.168.2.1 (gateway) and when I did the ipconfig /release and /renew my IP was still 192.168.1.100 on the client.

I use wireless connection and I got a yellow triangle with a ! in it. This means I don't get the right IP configuration of the server.

Does the gateway match your routers? It should be one and the same. Also, recommend you try the network troubleshooter. It might give some clue as to the problem.

No the gateway doesn't match the routers.
