Postby Craig201 » Fri Jan 13, 2012 2:11 pm

Having issues in Network setup
eth0 works fine on install fedora 14 after reboot Amahi installer eth0 crease's to work.
In Network Configuration it is active hardware is Boardcom Corporation Ethernet. Primary DNS is not my hda address. DNS search path is correct domain name for hda.Statically ip address is not correct when I try and change it to the correct address and reboot it reverts back to what I changed it from. Also done Network Troubleshooter and have included file in post of the result's.In Network Connections eth0 is not listed.Any help would be grateful accepted.

Have you disabled the DHCP/DNS on your router? Also, what type of install is this, Fedora 14 Full DVD or Express CD?

That might help. Also, do ifconfig and post here. I presume you restarted the box after Amahi install.

Thanks Bigfoot.I did a network troubleshooter early on. I put details as a file in my first post.
Still not sure whats going on the router is on static ip for the server.Does the installer try to my server into a static ip address for hda?.Tried to change values but on reboot they would change back.

Yes based on what you set in your amahi.org profile. Might consider shutting down your network and restarting it. Turn on modem, router, then hda. Once it has internet access you can then turn on the clients.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for all your help as a newbie to Linux have had some experience with mac .I managed to solve my problem.I had not correctly enter gateway ip address on set up.I deleted hda and reset with right address. Then reinstalled Fedora. Also with Thomson Router to disable dhcp you have to I found use Terminal.

Here's the process if anyone needs help.
telnet 198.168.1.254
login:Administrator
Password:leave blank (just hit enter)
dhcp server config state=disabled
saveall
Thanks for your help Bigfoot.I'm enjoying the Amahi experience.
