VPN works, but not when bridged

Postby kimchre » Tue Nov 15, 2011 4:06 pm

Hello,

I have installed Amahi and VPN works fine, as long as I don't try to bridge it.

Could someone please post their:
/etc/openvpn/openvpn-startup
and /etc/openvpn/amahi.conf

Just so I can see if I have followed the instructions correctly.

Also when restarting the openvpn I get an error message:

Regards,
Kim

Can you edit your post to add the error message?
It seems to have gotten lost.

Thanks

First of all, thanks for you time.

I figured out the "lost error message" and it was a <200b> character in the scripts that I could only see in VI. However I still can't get it to work.

I have partially broken network as the guide warns one about :-), actually I have gotten the exact same result 3 times with a fresh install.

The problems on the Amahi box now are:
Cannot browse, using firefox, anywhere on the internet. I have tried both ip-adress and domain name.
The built in VPN checker on amahi.org says that the VPN is inactive, before performing the changes for bridging it gave a green flag.

I can however ping locally to and from the Amahi box.

Having done 3 installs now with the same result I'm pretty annoyed with it :-)

I have attached the 3 config files as I'm probably reading the bridging instructions wrongly or something is missing.

Regards,
Kim

I'm a little confused about your situation. I understand you are having issues with VPN (and I'm not the one to help you with that). Does the rest of your Amahi installation work OK if we ignore the VPN for the moment?

File sharing, web browsing, media streaming (to other machines on your network; if you are using it)?
If some of these things are having trouble, its best to get them sorted out before trying to introduce the complexities of VPN into the picture.

Hi,

Filesharing works, just tested by copying from Windows 7 to the Amahi box.
Web browsing no longer works on the Amahi box, me being physically at the box, worked fine before trying to bridge.

Im not sure what the difference is between file sharing and media streaming.
