Seemed to install ok, stuck at [admin@localhost ~]$

Postby britman » Mon Nov 14, 2011 12:02 pm

I was super excited to try this but knew I'd hit problems as am not an experienced linux user.

Anyway I used the express install disk and the install all seemed to go well. Rebooted when asked to but after the last reboot I'm asked to login. I enter the default admin/admin and hit enter. the display now shows [admin@localhost ~]$

What next?

One other thing, I have a PC running Mint 11 and when I go to network the server is showing up and I can click through to it but I can't gain access. it wants a user name and password, the domain is set to WORKGROUP, but nothing works, my mint login, admin/admin or the login from when I setup my Amahi account.

Thank you.

The Express CD is a headless install meaning there is no desktop GUI. The Amahi Dashboard will be accessible, but if you want to access the file system or other items on your HDA, it's all command line with this setup. Being new to Linux, you might be best doing the Fedora 14 DVD install.

As for accessing the HDA from a Linux client, suggest you take a look at the wiki.

http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/SharingToLinux

Its simple for Windows clients, but Linux is a bit more complicated as you will see from the wiki.
