Re: first time set up
Hello,
1. There is no app or GUI for mounting new drives in Amahi at the moment. The only way is to follow the wiki guidance:
http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Adding_ ... o_your_HDA
2. There was a few good apps for streaming videos to your TVs. I do not know them off hand as I do not do that on my HDA. However you can check log into amahi.org and check out the available apps for streaming. A simple search for video or streaming will show you what's there. Each has pros and cons, so its more a personal preference which one you use.
3. I am not aware of any videos for setting up Amahi. There may be some out there, but you would have to search the web via google to locate.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
Yes its on the list to be worked. We have started the preliminary development, but it may take a while.
If you follow the wiki guidance, you should be able to do it fairly easily. Many new users have not had much trouble. If you run into problems, you can stop by the IRC for live help.

Re: first time set up
Mounting drives + Power management is something important for a home user...i noticed that yesterday while i was intending to make some large backups and i had to resort to "the pen" to avoid loosing time...
Today im going to test hdparm on the seagate 2TB 5900 to see if i can spin down the beast...

Re: first time set up
Ther is one GUI for all Linux sytems and thet is Webmin.
Webmin is easy to install and easy if yuo know the basics of linux.
You can hav a look at http://webmin.com/ for the interface.
You can set alot of things and install and mount easilly. But this is a professional tool = you can do anything meaning you can do bad things too
.
If you need to mount a usb stick/disk you kan use the machine as headed or vnc to it and use the Fedora desktop.
An other solution is to run autofs on the box.
The firs ting I installed on my Amahi was webmin.

Re: first time set up
For TVs I recommend miniDLNA. Old workhorse focusing on XBMC, Windows and TV.
Takes 5 min to set up on the Amahi HDA.
Its UPnP and works with the MS frontends.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/minidlna/
But a mediaPC and 50" TV needs XBMC look here http://xbmc.org/
An other nice thing is Plex Media Manager, takes also 5 min to install.
Gives many more things than the miniDLNA. Apple, Android and TV oriented.
http://www.plexapp.com/pc.php
Pleas think about this before you set up any Media Center: http://www.plexapp.com/medialink/files/E_install3.html
I have 3 miniDLNAs (Ubuntu, Fedora and Amahi) and 1 Plex (Ubuntu-test) running at home. The Plex is still not fully loaded.

Re: first time set up
For mounting extra HDD's I would suggest webmin as well. That's what I did. Much easier and faster.
As for Plex, what many more things can it do then minidlna?
I checked there website, going through it quickly i could not find out what it can d
