DLNA Samsung TV - important issues

Postby net1234 » Tue Aug 16, 2011 2:46 pm

Hello!

I like to create a server to share digital information around multi-platforms.
The choices in my mind: Amahi or Synology DSM.
I already install a Amahi test server with Fedora Core 14 and I test the DLNA applications in my Samsung TV (LE46C750).

Nevertheless, the DLNA have some negatives points:
The Amahi DLNA don't create automatic movie thumbnails;
Don't exits Bookmarks (last time point you stopped watching).

For me, this two functions are important to replace PC Share of Samsung and decide to build a new machine based in Amahi (don't buy Synology).
I read in the internet, on minidlna sourceforge (I think the code to produce Amahi DLNA), the report of a patch dedicated to the Samsung TV's (version minidlna v1.0.18 and a patch).
It's preview or is possible to apply this patch to the Amahi installation, if this solution correct the issues refereed in Samsung TV's?

Thanks in advance,
Best Regards

The current release of miniDLNA, 1.0.21 includes many improvements for samsung, within the last week or so some samsung bookmark related work was dropped into git. I've been playing with the dev code and plan on submitting an update to amahi, but right now I haven't really noticed any improvement with the latest code on my BD-D5500 player. That's not to say that there aren't any, it worked great on v.92{??} and it still works great on 1.0.21+dev. I suspect that the TV's have extended features over the players though.
