Amahi auto shutdown

Postby gastone » Sat Jul 23, 2011 2:59 pm

Hi
I've been having a problem with my Amahi Server
Every day for the last week when i get home from work i find the server off.
Is there an auto shutdown setting that i could have accidently messed with?
Is there a log that i could check (and how) that would tell me the reason for shutting down?
Thanks

Hello,

No auto shutdown that is associated with Amahi unless you are using the Amahi Eneergy Saver application.

If you did not install that application, then I would check the BIOS for your HDA. It might be set to power off at a specific time. Another possibility could be that your machine has a heat issue and shuts off to prevent damaging the hardware.

Thank you for your answer.
I haven't installed any Energy Saver application so that couldn't be it.
I'll check the bios too but i haven't messed with it for over a year now that i installed amahi.
As far as heat goes the case is open all aroung and in front of the six drives there are two 12cm fans keeping the drives as low as 91F-95F (31C-35C)
And the proccessor has a huge copper heatsink with a big fan so i doubt that heat is the issue.
How about logs? is there a crash log i could check and how?
Thanks again

Certainly check /var/log/messages to see if there is anything unusual.

If you know when your machine shutdown, you can look at the timestamps in the log to find out what might have happened around that time.

There are other log files in /var/log that might hold information too.
