Squeezebox Server Reinstall Problem

You know, there really should be a completely separate apps list for Amahi6 so we can see which apps are actually available.

Since it takes such a long time for apps to be ported to a new release (I'm not complaining about that; I know how limited our resources are), when a new Amahi release comes out, there should be some way of listing the apps that can be installed.

I have the same problem with a clean install of Squeezebox onto Amahi 6, but the Wiki instructions resolve the issue. It looks like CGI::Cookie is not installed by default in F14 so might need adding to the install script for Squeezebox to make it truly one-click.

Folks, the dependency has been added to the app now. Keep in mind this is probably why the app is in BETA and not live for Amahi 6. Beta apps are in testing and expected to have problems. Users such as yourselves help us find the issues and fix them.

For thosee that upgraded, obviously you did not know it was in BETA as it was live for Amahi 5. If you would like to help test in Amahi 6, please send me a PM. I want to ensure we have it right.

This could have been made more clear in the announcement for Amahi 6: You can't install any apps that are in beta for Amahi 6, even if you're still on 5! Or am I mistaken?

I would really like to install Squeezeserver, even 7.5.2. Please?

Sorry for repeating myself, but is there any way to separate the 'live' apps for AMAHI 5 from the 'Beta' apps in AMAHI 6, so AMAHI 5 users can keep on installing the live apps for AMAHI 5? AMAHI 6 is still no option for me because I'm using other apps like SabNZBd+ and others that are still in Beta for 6.

At the announcement of AMAHI 6 it was suggested that, although perhaps no upgrades for AMAHI 5 would be issued any more, things would not change for AMAHI 5 users. In fact, they have changed a lot, since most of the apps are now no longer installable for AMAHI 5 users.

Could anyone somehow separate these app stores? I guess that would be a lot of work... Pretty please?

You are probably correct, something that would take a lot of work. Recommend you email support with your suggestion.

Keep in mind if you are talking about the app store on amahi.org, the indication of what is beta or live for Amahi 5 and 6 is indicated. While I know it would be nice to have separate lists, at the moment the distinction can be made.

Also, most apps that are available for Amahi 5 and live should be reflected in the Available Apps area of the dashboard. Only pay apps might not show.

what is live and what is beta for AMAHI 5 and 6 is indicated, but my point is, that if an app is in beta for 6, it cannot be installed anymore under 5 even if it was live for 5. The status seems to be 'Beta - full stop', so only the people participating in the beta testing program are allowed to install. At least, that's what I experienced. I haven't checked this in the last 3 weeks, but I will test it again.

And as for the paid apps, would they have turned into paid apps under 5 also?

I have not been able to find a list so far of which apps have turned into paid apps... I don't understand why this list has not been published from day one, just to make things clear. Maybe I missed it, sorry.

I wouldn't mind paying for your great product, don't get me wrong, it's just the beta status of many apps that keeps me from installing 6.

Understand. I believe there is a bug with the app store and Amahi 5/6. It seems that Amahi 6 pay apps are not available in Amahi 5. This may be by design since the app store/paid apps part is not integrated in 5.

As for a list of paid apps, you are correct there is no such list. However when you look at the site, there should be indication there. Keep in mind you may need to be logged in to amahi.org to see.

We hope to get things smoothed out soon. I am afraid that there are some oversights on our part that we are currently trying to work out. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the conversion.

Hope to get it all worked out soon so you will want to install Amahi 6.

Hi all,

Just to report that my Amahi server root disk died this week so I decided to take the plunge, up and running in AMAHI 6.1 with clean install. Like Jaybea reported, the squeezeserver problem is still there (DVD ISO from USB stick) and followed the wiki to resolve the issue.
