Shutdown and restart not working properly?

Postby acemilo » Tue May 24, 2011 9:08 am

Hey guys, I've been migrating my data off my freenas drives and onto my amahi server and everything is going great. I've been restarting fine up until yesterday. If I plug in my monitor into it, it shows "Sending Term signal to all processess [OK]" then it hangs on "Sending Kill signal to all processes". I left it for about 3 hours and nothing happened. Anyone have any ideas on how to diagnose and fix this?

Thanks!

Are you current on Fedora updates? That could play a part. Also, is it possible there was a hardware change? Unfortunately it could be many things and potentially hard to track down.

Doing a yum update says I'm up to date, fedora 12 (since amahi 6 doesn't support the apps I need yet). I've been adding hard drives to it, which is the only hardware change. What can I do to fix it?

Not sure what can be done as I do not know why its not working. There is no further development being done on Fedora 12 and the OS is in sunset. I am afraid you may be stuck with it the way it is until you update to Fedora 14.

We released some apps today, so maybe what you need is available now.

Nope, they're still in beta. I need transmission and sabnzbd, both of which are beta still. Most importantly, crashplan isn't working yet either.

Understand.

I need a tester for new version of SABnzbd if you are interested. PM me your amahi.org user name.

I take it you cannot use the fedora transmission? As for crashplan, you can install the desktop version of it I believe.

Just some thoughts to help you out.

I looked on the list of available apps and it says Transmission is still in beta for fedora 14. I have a hard drive with fedora 14 and amahi 6 installed so I can switch em out if need be. Would that screw up greyhole? I have 5 hard drives that are tied up in greyhole.

Transmission is also available as a desktop app via Fedora repo. The Amahi version is different, so you can use either one.

As for greyhole, should be able to do the gone option on the drives, disconnect and reconnect in new machine.

Check the wiki for guidance. I would try one drive and see how it goes, then move others if it looks good.

I'm using F14 and Amahi 6, along with Transmission, Sabnzbd, and CrashPlan. All work swimmingly well. Never had a single problem with any of them. Any issues were a result of my newness and not being clear on file structures (for things like output folders).

I think you'll be in fine shape if you upgrade.

The express installer finally came out, and I have an extra drive for it, so I'm gonna throw it on there. How do I migrate my greyhole drives over? Is there a guide somewhere I can follow?
