I Broke WordPress

Postby peterbayliss81 » Mon May 02, 2011 10:00 pm

And now i have to fix it.

So i was playing with WordPress to the point it was unusable. The last thing i changed was the "Site URL" on the general settings page. I entered the wrong url here then all the links stopped working and i was unable to log into the WordPress dashboard.

After a while of fighting, i gave up and uninstalled Wordpress, rebooted the server then re-installed Wordpress. It didn't work, i was faced with a blank screen. I have tried un-installing and clearing the amahi-download-cache, clearing my browsers cache. Non of this worked.

I finally installed phpmyadmin and looked at the database for Wordpress. To my surprise the database contained old data from the initial install. When i remove Wordpress, this database also goes. But re-install wordpress and the database returns complete with old data.

Does anyone know where this database is being held and how can i purge it to return it to its new install state? I just want to return it to the state it was in after it was first installed.

Thanks
Peter

Hello,

There is a mechanism in Amahi 6 that makes a backup of the database when you uninstall. So, there are some apps that make use of this and restore it upon reinstall.

To remove the backup files, go to /var/hda/dbs and remove any files in there for wordpress or any other app you would like to clear out. Make sure you do this after you uninstall wordpress. Then when you reinstall, it will be a fresh database.
